Important Disclosures
General Information. The information provided on this website is for educational and informational purposes only and should not be considered financial, legal, or tax advice. Every individual’s financial situation is unique, and the suitability of any financial product depends on your specific circumstances, goals, risk tolerance, and time horizon. Before purchasing any annuity product, you should carefully review all contract materials, including the prospectus or disclosure statement if applicable, and consult with qualified financial, tax, and legal advisors to ensure the product is appropriate for your situation.
Product Information and Guarantees. All guarantees, benefits, and features described on this website are based on the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company. Annuities are not insured by the FDIC, NCUA, or any federal government agency. They are not deposits or obligations of, nor guaranteed or endorsed by, any bank or credit union. Product features, benefits, rates, caps, participation rates, spreads, fees, and availability vary by insurance carrier, state, and contract. The information presented represents general product characteristics and may not reflect all available options or current offerings. Specific product details, including current rates and features, will be provided in contract materials from the insurance carrier. State guaranty associations provide some level of protection for annuity contract holders in the event of an insurance company insolvency, but coverage limits vary by state (typically $250,000 per individual per company but this amount may be higher or lower depending on the state) and are subject to specific conditions and limitations.
Liquidity and Surrender Charges. Annuities are long-term financial products designed for retirement savings and income planning. Most annuity contracts include surrender charge periods during which early withdrawals above the free withdrawal amount (typically 10% of account value annually) may be subject to surrender charges imposed by the insurance company. Surrender charges typically decline over time and vary by product and carrier. Additionally, withdrawals taken before age 59½ from non-qualified annuities may be subject to a 10% federal tax penalty in addition to ordinary income taxes on earnings, unless an exception applies. Single Premium Immediate Annuities (SPIAs) and Deferred Income Annuities (DIAs) involve an irrevocable exchange of premium for guaranteed future income and generally provide no access to principal once the contract is issued. These products should only be purchased with funds you will not need for liquidity purposes.
Tax Considerations. The tax treatment of annuities is complex and varies based on whether the annuity is qualified (held in an IRA or other retirement account) or non-qualified (purchased with after-tax dollars), as well as how distributions are taken. Please seek appropriate counseling from your tax professional prior to purchasing any annuity. Makoto Insurance Services, LLC and its agents are not tax professionals, and are not proper sources of tax advice.

Some states have additional consumer protections, disclosure requirements, or suitability standards that apply to annuity sales.
